Tell us about your career:
After leaving education in 2014, I fell into property management by accident almost. I was working as a waitress in the VIP tent at Walnut Creek when a woman I was waiting on asked me to help talk her friend into moving back to Raleigh. After our exchange, she asked if I may be interested in leasing apartments and she connected me with her temp agency. I started as a leasing agent at Allister North Hills, managed by Kane Realty Corp. Over the course of almost ten years, I have stayed with this company and worn many hats - leasing agent, assistant manager, property manager over multi sites as well as a high rise. In January 2023, I was promoted to regional manager.
What advice do you have for someone just starting in your field:
Ask questions. It's the best way to learn. Remember that we are in the business of people and their homes. As long as you are doing your best and treating others with kindness and fairness, you'll go far.
Anything else you would like to share:
Over the last decade, I have seen Raleigh and other markets in North Carolina grow so much. I've been grateful to work on new sites, not so new sites, and renovated historic sites. I'm very thankful for all the opportunities I've had to grow in this field and I'm excited to see what lies ahead!
