Annual Food Drive: In April, the PTAA kicked off our Twentieth Annual Food Drive in partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank of NW NC. For 2024, the PTAA set a goal of raising over 500,000 meals by the end of summer. The PTAA Food Drive is probably best known for our 'Fill the Stands with Cans' events at the Greensboro Grasshoppers and Winston-Salem Dash ballparks. At these games, PTAA members solicit donations from attendees before the first pitch. PTAA members are also participating by hosting food drives in their communities and by having donation boxes in high-foot traffic areas for residents to donate.

When you support the PTAA food drive for Second Harvest Food Bank, every dollar you give provides 7 meals for someone in need in the Triad community!

Xcel hosted another very popular Happy Hour Headshots during the Networking time at TAA’s 2024 Membership Dinner Meeting. It was extremely well received with 46 members taking advantage of the opportunity for a new headshot. We asked for a minimum $20 donation and raised $1,030 for the Food Bank of Central and Eastern NC. The money raised will provide 5,150 meals. Thanks to Megan Kime Photography and everyone who participated. (photo – Xcel Committee members deliver the donation check to the NC Food Bank.)

TAA members volunteered at the Special Olympics NC Summer Games (SONC) for our 2024 TAA Day of Service. SONC is one of the largest Special Olympics programs in the world, with nearly 45,000 registered athletes who train and compete in year-round programs in 20 different sports.

TAA had the opportunity to assist with Track & Field events, guiding the athletes to their race and cheering them on. Later in the evening we served as venue assistants at the Victory Dance, a celebration for all SONC athletes and families. We were honored to spend the day with these amazing SONC athletes and come together as an association to volunteer.
