Tell us about your career:

I embarked on this path as a Leasing Agent with no prior experience in the industry almost 24 years ago. Despite the initial challenges, I soon discovered a passion for helping people, marking the beginning of a fulfilling career. Over the years, I navigated through different roles, diligently working my way up from a Leasing Agent to an Assistant Manager and eventually achieving the role of a Property Manager. This journey included successfully managing two lease-ups. Throughout my career, I've been honored with significant recognitions, such as the Leasing Professional of the Year award in 2007 and the Manager of the Year award in 2018. These accolades underscore my ongoing commitment to delivering outstanding results and providing excellent service within the industry.

In 2023, I reached another milestone in my career with Blue Ridge Companies by accepting the role of Marketing Campaign Manager. In this role, I have the privilege of guiding our communities in offering valuable insights to create effective marketing strategies, optimizing team performance, and contributing to the overall success of each site.

What advice do you have for someone just starting in your field:

Undoubtedly, property management is a demanding profession, filled with daily challenges and high expectations. One lesson I've learned over the years is the importance of setting achievable goals. While it's tempting to aim for the stars, focusing on realistic and attainable objectives has proven to be a key factor in maintaining both personal and professional well-being.

One thing that often gets overlooked is the delicate balance between work and home life. It's easy to get caught up in the drive to overachieve, especially at the beginning of one's career. However, it's essential to remember that work will always be there tomorrow, but our mental health should remain a top priority. Juggling the demands of work and personal life is a perpetual challenge. Striking the right balance requires conscious effort and the willingness to step back when necessary. Neglecting our home life can have repercussions on our overall well-being, leading to burnout and diminished job satisfaction.  As we navigate the complexities of property management, let's not lose sight of the importance of mental health. Taking breaks, setting boundaries, and ensuring time for personal life are crucial components of long-term success in our profession. Remember, success is not solely measured by professional achievements, but also by the quality of our personal lives. Let's support each other in maintaining this delicate balance and foster an environment where both professional and personal aspirations can thrive.
