Tell us about your career:
The first thing I can tell you about my career is that I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!!! I began my career in multifamily with Greystar as a Leasing Professional in April of 2021, which was the best career change EVER! Before getting into multifamily, my whole life I always wanted to be a daycare teacher and chef. I worked as a daycare teacher for over 10 years and part-time in the restaurant industry for 5 years. However, after having my son in 2015 and Covid hitting in 2019, I needed something different, a career that still helped people, was organized and had good hours. So, I started applying for office jobs and Greystar took a chance on me. When beginning this job, I was so scared and nervous but thanks to my awesome team's support, I took the ground off running!
Since I've been employed with Greystar I've had the pleasure to assist in numerous of due diligence, which I really enjoy doing and in hope to make a career out of it within Greystar. Each due diligence gives me an opportunity to learn more behind the scenes of property management and met new faces within the company/industry. Greystar has also encouraged me join TAA, where I'm currently a member and secretary for the Special Event Committee. I've really enjoyed and learned so much about multifamily within TAA and Greystar. Now that I've been a leasing professional for almost 3 years, with the motivation of my property team and other Greystar team members, I'm currently working on becoming a Leasing Manager or an Assistant Community Manager. So, I'm excited to see where my career goes with Greystar in the future! Property management/ multifamily has been a wonderful and amazing experience and career change not just only for me but my son too.
What advice do you have for someone just starting in your field:
Advice, I have for anyone starting off is to not be afraid to do something new/different or be scared to network. To me being respectful, knowledgeable, and friendly are key points to being successful in this field and life in general.
