AANC Board Spotlight | Bethany Lykins
Bethany Lykins, AANC Board member, was born in Dalton, Georgia. She left Georgia to attend Bryan College in Dayton, Tennessee, where she studied Political Science and graduated in 2012. After college, she interned with a state political party in Nashville, Tennessee, focusing on fundraising. It was there that she discovered a passion for sales and for bringing people together around a shared goal.
That passion carried over into the next chapter of her career in the beauty industry, where Bethany worked for Sun Tan City. Over five years, Bethany grew into leadership roles as both a Salon Director and Training Salon Director. She trained and developed other leaders across the Nashville area while managing daily operations of her own salon. These roles deepened her skills in leadership and team development, with a focus on helping people feel confident and connected.
Bethany eventually found her way to North Carolina, making the move to Asheville on New Year’s Eve in 2016. Bethany’s then fiancé is originally from Hickory, so the move allowed them to be closer to family while also embracing the natural beauty of the Western North Carolina mountains.
After relocating to Asheville, Bethany transitioned into property management, where she found a natural fit for her strengths and interests. She worked as a Community Manager for over four years, first with BSC Holdings and then with Hawthorne Residential Partners. Currently, Bethany works with Greystar, focused on Active Adult Housing. She shares:
I find a lot of personal fulfillment in providing and maintaining a home for residents while helping create a true sense of community. I genuinely enjoy event planning and bringing people together, which is why resident activities and retention are my favorite aspects of property management. There’s nothing more rewarding than planning an event and then seeing real connections—and even lifelong friendships—form because of it.

Beyond her professional duties, Bethany devotes much of her time as a volunteer. She received the Apartment Association of Western North Carolina (AAWNC) Volunteer of the Year Award in 2020 and has served as the President of the AAWNC Board of Directors from 2022–2025. Bethany has also served on the AANC Board of Directors since 2022 and currently is Chair of the AANC Governance Committee.
When not involved in working or volunteering, Bethany is anticipating the growth of family. She and her husband, who married in 2017, are proud parents to their Bernedoodle, Alice, but are also expecting the birth of their son, Henry, this month! This exciting new chapter reflects the same values of home and building community that define Bethany and her journey in the multifamily industry.
Bethany’s story is rooted in connection. Across every stage of her career, whether in politics, beauty, or property management, she has dedicated herself to creating spaces where people feel they belong, connecting people to place, purpose, and to one another.
