Tell us about your career:

I started my career just over nine years ago in Charleston, SC. Like most people, I just came across a leasing position and put my name in. I received a call a few days later and here we are 9+ years later. I was a Leasing Consultant for one-and-a-half years and then transitioned to an Assistant Community Manager for two-and-a-half years, and I am now a Community Manager.

I have worked at five different communities over the past five years with Hawthorne Residential Partners. I have worked on a site where we recently took over ownership and management of the property. Other sites where we have been going through a refi of the community and need to stabilize it for occupancy. Most recently I finished up a brand-new construction in Holly Springs, NC! I feel over the past five years I have learned what it is like to adapt and overcome many challenging obstacles.  

What advice do you have for someone just starting in your field:

I highly recommend finding a company you feel comfortable and valued at. Find a mentor within that company that sees potential in you. If you are new to the business, hard work and dedication go a long way. Become a future leader for our industry and you will see the opportunities come your way.
