Year Wrap-Up: Top Tips and Planning Tricks

As 2021 comes to a close, there are several top priorities that come to mind when planning out your last thirty days. But have you thought of everything? From the minute to the major, below are some top tips and ideas as you roll into the holiday season!

  1. Do a deep clean of the office. From files to old Post-Its, it’s a perfect time to toss what you don’t need and create a filing system for what you want to keep. Bonus- everyone loves a clean workspace! If you’re in a public office setting, grab a box of doughnuts and make an afternoon out of it. If you’re on-site, get your maintenance team involved as well! Offer to help with sorting or label-making. Think of all that time saved in 2022 when your team isn’t looking for that extra hammer or drill bit.
  2. Start planning your calendar. Monthly resident events, conferences, dinner meetings, committee events and more… the year can fill up fast. Making sure your 2022 calendar has everything written down now is a perfect way to make sure nothing falls off the radar. Plus, with tentative plans in mind (Fourth of July cookout, anyone?), you can ensure that no one is left scrambling to throw together a resident event at the last minute.
  3. Make time for card-writing. Not just for the holidays, but as a thank-you for anyone who has made the year special. Supplier members, residents, heck, even the friendly UPS guy who makes sure all those packages get into the Luxer package locker… it’s a quick way to brighten someone’s season.
  4. Write down your 2022 resolutions. We know, we know- “Eat more vegetables” sometimes only lasts until January 10th. But think bigger- what resolutions can you make for your career? From having that career-growth conversation with your boss to finally earning that CAPS or CAMT credential, 2022 is wide open to crush some major goals. And studies show that people who write down goals are 50% more likely to remember them and to make steps to achieve them.
  5. Get involved. There’s no better time than the start of a new year to get involved in the multifamily industry. If you haven’t joined a committee yet, start looking for one that might interest you. Check out upcoming networking events to start making some meaningful connections. We’re all busy, but as in-person events start returning, it’s a nice way to get plugged in to what the multifamily industry is doing on a larger scale.

We hope you have an amazing and safe holiday season and look forward to what 2022 will bring; not just for the AANC but for our local affiliates and our industry as a whole!

Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!
