Tell us about your career:
I have been in the multi-family industry for over 20 years and I've loved every minute! It all started when I received a phone call while being a Store Manager at The Gap. I had been referred to Oakwood Worldwide by a previous employee (and interesting fact..she went on to be a Regional Manager for Greystar). I knew nothing about apartments, corporate housing, or the likes. But somehow I got the job! From there I went to AFR Furniture Rentals, where I stayed for over 9 years and was the Regional Sales Manager. While at AFR, I got even more active in the Triangle Apartment Association. I chaired the PR & Community Relations Committees for years and served on the Board of Directors. I was also lucky enough to serve as the Secretary of the Executive Board. After AFR I decided to try the advertising side of multi-family and accepted a position at ForRent.com. ForRent.com was bought by CoStar where I also sold advertising for Apartments.com. In December of 2018, I began speaking with Valet Living about coming to work with them. I had always been interested in the company and heard such great things through the years. So it seemed like the perfect fit and here I am today as a Regional Sales Executive at Valet Living!
What advice do you have for someone just starting in your field:
Get active in your local apartment associations and AANC!! You will get back 10 fold what you put in. Network, Network, Network! Not only have I met many professional connections, but I have also met some of my best friends.
