Tell us about your career:
With over a decade of experience in the multifamily housing industry, I have progressed from a Leasing Specialist to my current role as Regional Manager, overseeing ten communities across North Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia. While I briefly took an “intermission” from property management to serve as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I quickly realized that my true passion lies within the property management industry. The skills I gained during that time have been invaluable, helping me cultivate a team-focused leadership style that drives operational excellence and community success.
My experience growing through each onsite position has provided me with a unique ability to lead by example and connect authentically with my teams. I understand firsthand the challenges they face, and the strategies needed to succeed. My specialties include property operations, new construction and lease-ups, financial oversight, team leadership, and resident retention. Throughout my career, I have consistently exceeded occupancy and NOI goals, introduced innovative marketing strategies, and built strong relationships with both stakeholders and residents.
I am honored to have received numerous industry awards from my local apartment association and management company, including Manager of the Year, Assistant Manager of the Year, and Property of the Year. In addition to holding my CAM and CALP designations, I also earned a Master’s Degree in Social Work. Most recently, I've been elected to join the Board of Directors with the Greater Fayetteville Apartment Association, which further supports my commitment to team and community success.
What advice do you have for someone just starting in your field:
In property management, every day brings new challenges, and it’s important to remember not to be too hard on yourself. Mistakes and obstacles are part of the learning process and can help you grow into a stronger leader. Adaptability is key!
The industry is constantly changing, and the ability to pivot and adjust will set you apart. Seek out mentorship and professional development opportunities whenever possible. Learning from others and investing in your own growth will only enhance your career, so Get Involved! The most important philosophy I adhere to is to show up for yourself first.
Prioritizing self-care and showing up for "you" is just as important as showing up for work each day. This is a demanding field, and taking care of your own well-being ensures you can continue to lead effectively, support your team, and foster thriving communities.
