AANC Board Spotlight | Bill Clements
Bill Clements, AANC board member and DJ extraordinaire, was born in Savannah, Georgia. His family moved around quite a bit before settling in South Carolina, where Bill graduated from high school and spent some time studying Business at Winthrop University. In 1987, he accepted an Assistant Manager position with a small property owner in Columbia, SC. And though his ability to rock the house and share his love of music was still in his future, his career in the multifamily industry was just beginning.
In 1989, Bill made the move to Charlotte, NC, where he accepted a position as a leasing agent at Paces River with Trammell Crow. After two and a half years, he moved on to Easlan Management as a Property Manager, followed by several years on the supplier side of the industry, first as an Operations Director with Professional Carpet Systems and later in sales with Cort Furniture. While at Cort Furniture, Bill played an unexpected role in helping meet some of the crucial needs of the Carolina Panthers’ start-up expansion team. Through a chance meeting with the Director of Player Relations, Bill began working with the team to secure more than 30 apartments, furnishing them with all the comforts of home for the initial leadership, coaching staff, and players. It was an unexpected opportunity that became a memorable moment and one of the many connections Bill has made in the Charlotte community.

After spending about four years as a supplier, Bill went back to management as a Portfolio Sales Specialist with Summit, later moving into the role of Lease-up Manager and then becoming the Portfolio Marketing Director. In 2000, Bill left Summit and began working for a publication, Senior Living Guide, first as Sales Publisher for the NC/SC division, then transitioning to Director of Operations for NC/SC/VA, a role he held until 2019.
In 2019, Bill joined Valet Living, marking his return to the supplier side once again. After Valet Living, Bill worked for Environmental Diversified Services (EDS) for a couple of years before eventually landing in his current role as National Accounts Market Development Executive for Redi Carpet, supporting the Mid Atlantic region. Bill shares that he “enjoy(s) working with the local teams in my region, serving our fantastic industry partners and always #Redi!”
Outside of his professional career path, Bill’s dedication to the multifamily rental housing industry becomes even more apparent when considering all the many volunteer roles he has held throughout the years, locally, statewide, and nationally.
For the Greater Charlotte Apartment Association (GCAA), Bill has served as:
- A member of the Board of Directors from 1993-1996 and in 1999, and he is currently serving on the board again, since 2023.
- GCAA Suppliers Council President in 2023
- Chair of many GCAA committees, including Membership, Operations, PR, and Membership Retention. He is currently the Chair of Events & Experiences for GCAA.

For the Apartment Association of North Carolina (AANC):

- State Suppliers Council Chair in 2026, which includes serving a year on the AANC Board of Directors.

With almost 40 years working in and supporting the multifamily industry, Bill has also spent the last 30 years as a DJ. What began as a way to help liven up a few pool parties has turned into a full-fledged side hustle. Bill keeps the music going at events across North Carolina while his industry peers enjoy every minute on the dance floor.
Beyond his dedicated career and impressive side hustle, Bill still finds time for his own family, including daughters Cassidy and Annelise and son Ellison. Cassidy currently lives in Colorado and works in land development and is also responsible for giving Bill yet another job this month as Father of the Bride! After Cassidy went to college, Bill moved to Salisbury in 2014, where he continues to embrace his role as Dad and relishes time spent with Annelise and Ellison, who, he says, “work me 24/7 to get the best lives they can con me into!”
The Multifamily industry is about so much more than the communities we serve. It’s also about the community we find along the way. Through nearly four decades working in multifamily, countless volunteer roles, and a DJ gig that has kept dance floors shaking for 30 years, Bill Clements has built a career with a genuine love for people. Whether in committee meetings or on the dance floor, Bill’s energy and enthusiasm brings people together, building relationships, connection, and community.
