Tell us about your career:
It all started around 2001, I know that’s longer than 10 years (but please hear me out). My mother was a Property Manager in Greensboro, NC. We lived in Lexington, and this was her first job “out of town” so we were all so excited about her new journey. My summers were spent in the leasing office as an unofficial member of the team. I mainly got to swim in the pool and played with the Mary-Kay samples that the residents left in the leasing office.
Years later, after some time serving in the non-profit sector I was looking to make a career change. My mother was then the Vice President of a single-family property management company in Winston-Salem. Through her network I was able to connect with a local restoration company, who decided to take a chance on me. Within my first year I was awarded for my Marketing Creativity. In 2022 I started as a Regional Business Development Representative with Venturi Restoration. In 2023 Venturi merged with ATI Restoration who is quickly expanding throughout the country. Through this merge I was then promoted to Senior Business Development for the Charlotte territory.
What advice do you have for someone just starting in your field:
Embrace the process of restoration, not only in a literal sense (because that's the service that you're representing) but also metaphorically. Success should be a continual process of evaluating areas of growth and managing expectations, of ourselves, our internal teams, and within our professional connections. Often times, in order to grow you have to break down our initial perceptions and work to restore them with a fresh coat of perspective...and grit!
