Tell us about your career:

My career in multifamily began in 2012 when I was hired as a Leasing Consultant. Like most stories go, I stumbled into this industry by accident. I was fresh out of college and moving into my new apartment when the Leasing Consultant suggested I apply for an opening they had on site. Having just graduated, I was eager to do anything, so I applied and the rest is history. I spent five years on-site in various Leasing/Assistant Manager roles before joining “the dark side” and becoming a supplier for the industry. After almost five years in that role, I was presented with an opportunity to join the Greystar team again, and am now working as a Talent Acquisition Advisor. In this role, I oversee talent acquisition and retention efforts for all of North and South Carolina as well as Coastal Georgia.

Throughout my career, I have volunteered, not only with AANC, but also: PTAA, GFAA, and my home base, TAA. I became heavily involved in the Special Events Committee over the years and currently serve as a Committee Co-Chair. I am also a New Member Ambassador for the association and served on the DEI Task Force, whose work ultimately led to the development of our DEI Committee in 2022.

What advice do you have for someone just starting in your field:

Get involved in the association! Join a committee, attend events, and grow your network-don't be afraid to put yourself out there. It's such a rewarding experience to work alongside your industry peers to foster something that benefits others within the association as well as the community at large. There are so many different ways to be involved, so try them all until you find something that sticks.

Anything else you would like to share:

Never underestimate how small this industry is and where it will take you. You’re almost always going to cross paths with someone again in some way, shape, or form, so remember to always be kind and don’t burn bridges.
