Tell us about your career:
I began my career over 25 years ago as a Leasing Consultant, and from the very start, I knew this industry was my calling. Over the years, I've worked my way up and am now proud to serve as the Regional Vice President with RKW, where I oversee the operational strategy for a portfolio of communities across the Carolinas. I am deeply passionate about developing high-performing teams and honing superior leadership skills. My experience spans across a variety of property types, from mid-rise buildings to Built-to-Rent (BTR) communities, with extensive expertise in lease-ups and property repositioning. I'm also an active member of the Greater Charlotte Apartment Association and currently serve as Co-Chair of the Membership Committee.
What advice do you have for someone just starting in your field:
My advice for someone just starting in this field would be to find a mentor early on—someone who can guide you, share their experience, and help you grow. Get involved in your local apartment association; it's a great way to network and learn from others in the industry. Don't be afraid to make mistakes—some of the best lessons come from those moments. Always ask questions and seek knowledge, no matter how small the inquiry might seem. Property management offers a wide range of career paths, so follow what excites you most. And most importantly, find mentors and leaders who inspire you and who you can learn from as you progress in your career.
Anything else you would like to share:
Never stop learning. Whether it’s from your peers, mentors, or through classes offered by your local apartment association, there’s always something new to gain. Make it a priority to pursue your certifications they can make a big difference in your growth.
