Tell us about your career:
I have been with Greystar for nearly for over two years! Throughout my career, I've honed my skills in customer-facing roles like retail and hospitality. I was working as a waitress in a tiny town in Upstate New York when the world shut down in March 2020. I lost my job and was faced with the decision of what to do and where to go next, so I chose to venture south, into the ever-growing multifamily industry of North Carolina's RTP, and haven’t looked back! I started as a Leasing Professional, pivoted to HOA Management for a time, and now am thrilled to be part of the Greystar team, first starting as an Assistant Community Manager before being promoted to Community Manager. Each hurdle, whether good or bad, is always a chance to learn and grow.
What advice do you have for someone just starting in your field:
Who YOU are is the only thing setting you apart in any market. If a prospective resident is looking for a specific amenity, the next community has it, too. If a hiring manager is looking for a credential, the next candidate has it, too. Be remembered for who you authentically are, and you'll be set apart from the crowd. Showcasing your unique set of strengths and soft skills is vital for standing out in a competitive industry and building meaningful connections with colleagues, clients, and residents alike.
Anything else you would like to share:
Commit to a forever pursuit of learning because the only thing constant in this world is change. Soak up as much knowledge as you can, as frequently as you can, and remember, education isn't always in the classroom. Each person you meet along this journey presents an opportunity for your own growth and development.
