Tell us about your career:
I started in the industry eight years ago as a part-time Leasing Consultant. I quickly worked my up through the ranks to my current position as Regional Manager with Sweetwater Property Management. Along the way, I became involved with the GFAA where I continue to serve on multiple committees. I was eventually elected to the Board of Directors and I am currently serving on the Executive Board as the Treasurer. This year I joined AANC's Government Affairs committee. I'm looking forward to signing up for a committee with NAA this year as I'd like to be involved at the local, state, and national levels.
What advice do you have for someone just starting in your field:
Jump in and grab the bull by the horns! This is a tough industry, but extremely rewarding. The good will always outweigh the bad. Don't get discouraged if you don't fit the first position you accept. There are so many different positions in this industry. If one doesn't fit, try another one. If the owner/operator side doesn't work for you, try the vendor side. Find a mentor and never stop learning.
