Tell us about your career:
In 2018 I left my first career as a public teacher and stumbled into the multifamily industry as a leasing professional. My degree is in music education, and though it was a dramatic shift at the time, I attended a Greystar career fair and joined the team shortly after.
I have been extremely fortunate to have strong mentors who have believed in me and pushed me to be my best since day one, and this has allowed me to grow quickly in this industry.
My belief that education builds a solid foundation led me to earn my CALP and CAM certifications online. Over the following three years I worked my way up to Manager, and I most enjoy leading my team and helping them grow. In the meantime I looked for as many coaching opportunities as possible within my roles onsite, as a Coach within my company, and through the Triangle Apartment Association.
I joined the XCEL Committee with TAA early on in my career to help new professionals succeed in this industry. I enjoyed XCEL so much that I also joined the Government Affairs Committee. I currently serve as Co-Chair of XCEL Committee, and am proud to have joined the Board of Directors for TAA in 2024.
What advice do you have for someone just starting in your field:
Get involved in one of our associations and network! You become so much stronger as a professional when you can learn from multiple perspectives and connect with people outside of your company bubble. Your strongest allies and coaches often come from outside your direct team 😊
