Tell us about your career:

I've been with Valet Living since the very end of 2019. I've spent the past 18+ years at Senior Living Guide where I was initially in sales then for many years, Managing Director of Sales & Operations for the Carolinas & Virginia. Think of SLG as the equivalent of Apartments.com or For Rent to the senior housing industry. Prior to that, I enjoyed many years in multi-family locally on both the owner operator and vendor side. Sales, marketer, and property manager for Trammell Crow, Summit Properties and others. Sales and leadership for suppliers such as Cort Furniture, Professional Carpet and a few others who's names have since changed. I do possess a CAM Designation as well as a current NC Brokers license/ SC sales license.

What advice do you have for someone just starting in your field:

Know that the industry is real. It's complex, ever evolving and serious on levels where that is necessary. There is plenty of fun to be had but the folks on the property side- their work is important, and sometimes very hard. The laws, the regulations, the liabilities- they are stout. Respect that, always be available, honor your word and give them the space they need to execute their jobs. Do that, and you'll do well. The apartment industry is outstanding!

Anything else you would like to share:

I always made myself available to the CAA (now GCAA). Your local (and state) associations are the backbone of the industry. They are so much more than dinner meetings and networking outings. Get involved, do the work they need you to do. You will grow, your influence and bottom line will grow. Your understanding of and value to, the industry will grow. And yeah, the outings are always a good time!

Bill Clements is on the AANC PR/Marketing Committee and Secretary for the GCAA Products & Services Council. Thank you for your service to the industry, Bill!
