NAA Update from Lisa Taylor, NAA Region IV Vice President | June 2026
On May 13, 2026, key leaders in the House unveiled an amended version of the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act that importantly preserves build-to-rent (BTR) housing. NAA and industry coalition partners wrote Congressional leadership encouraging them to pass this amended package. "This legislation will help preserve flexible housing options for renters, ease affordability challenges and provide more opportunity for households on the path toward homeownership," the letter said.
NAA members played a key role in making this happen, including through more than 300 meetings on Capitol Hill during Advocate, NAA's annual advocacy conference.

As inflation continues to be a key issue, NAA's VP of Research George Ratiu says that "For the housing sector, rising inflation means that we can expect elevated mortgage rates for the remainder of 2026. As the spring season unfolds, housing providers and developers will need to navigate an environment where inflation remains a central economic force, shaping consumer behavior, investment decisions, and market dynamics across the industry."
