Tax Bill Passes House
Late last month, the reconciliation package that includes federal tax policy passed out of the U.S. House of Representatives, retaining key rental housing industry tax priorities. The bill now heads to the U.S. Senate, which has already indicated that they will need to make changes to the bill as drafted. Read the latest.
NAA Leads Industry Advocacy
NAA continues to lead the industry’s advocacy efforts to eliminate any ambiguity that the federal CARES Act’s notice to vacate requirement ended in 2020. Read more.
President Trump Outlines Budget Requests
Last month, President Trump released his Fiscal Year 2026 Budget Request, outlining the administration’s high-level spending goals for the forthcoming year. Water Heater Rule Withdrawn
Following the passage of a Congressional Review Act (CRA) measure, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has withdrawn a final rule that would have imposed stricter water heater efficiency standards on the rental housing industry. The rule’s withdrawal marks a key regulatory win. Read more.
Rent Control Outlook
State legislatures and city councils continue to pursue failed policies that would regulate rents and rent increases, with one jurisdiction managing the ongoing fallout from strict rent controls passed in 2021. Hall of Fame
NAA has announced the forthcoming induction of Marc Ross, President of Bob Ross Realty and 2016 NAA Chair of the Board, into the NAA Hall of Fame. Ross will accept the recognition – the highest association honor that can be bestowed upon a rental housing professional – during Apartmentalize. Read more.
