Susan Passmore, CAM, CAPS - President

Susan Passmore has been with Blue Ridge Property Management since 2001 and serves as the Director of Property Management. She holds her Certified Apartment Manager (CAM) and Certified Apartment Property Supervisor (CAPS) designations through the National Apartment Association. She is also a graduate of the NAA Leadership Lyceum. Susan is a licensed North Carolina Real Estate Broker and has over 15 years of multi-family property management experience. Serving as past board member and a two-time president for the Piedmont Triad Apartment Association, she currently serves as President for the Apartment Association of North Carolina and as Secretary for the Piedmont Triad Chapter of Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW).
Tim Hose - Vice President/President-Elect

Since 2002, Tim has been President of parent company First LandMark USA, Inc. and all of its affiliates, including its property management subsidiary, Guardian Management. Tim has been responsible for all of the company’s activities including property acquisition, financing, asset management, property management, rehabilitation, development, and disposition.
Tim earned a bachelor’s degree in German with a minor in economics from Davidson College in 1976, and an MBA degree with a specialization in real estate from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1978, where he was a Business Foundation of North Carolina Fellow.
Tim is a past President (2007) of the Greater Charlotte Apartment Association (GCAA). He is also on the Advisory Board of the GCAA Education Foundation and on the Long-Range Planning Committee of the AANC and GCAA.
Mindy McCorkle - Secretary

Mindy McCorkle has been Blue Ridge Companies' Operations Director since February 2010. She holds the CAM and CAPS designation and is a member of NAA's faculty after having completed the Advanced Instructor Training program. With over 16 years of experience in the industry, she has been awarded multiple awards, most notably the National Apartment Association's Professional Designate of the Year in 2006. She served on the Greater Charlotte Apartment Association's board of directors from 1999-2010 and served as President in 2006. In addition she served as the president of the Greater Charlotte Apartment Edcuation Foundation from 2008-2010. She also currently serves on the Piedmont Triad Apartment Association's Board of Directors and is slated to be the PTAA President in 2012.
Kellie Falk-Tillett - Treasurer


Kellie Falk-Tillett graduated from Meredith College with a BA in Business Administration and received her Masters in Business Administration with a concentration in Real Estate Finance from the American University. She is a Certified Property Manager® through the Institute of Real Estate Management, a Housing Credit Certified Professional from the National Association of Home Builders, and a Certified Apartment Manager and Certified Apartment Portfolio Supervisor through the National Apartment Association. Kellie holds a Real Estate Brokers License in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and Georgia.
John D. Porter, III - AANC Immediate Past President

Mr. Porter has developed, owned and operated multifamily housing for over twenty years in the Carolinas and the Upper Midwest. He is Senior Vice President of Charter Properties, Inc., a Charlotte based firm begun in 1971 and wholly owned by the Springs Investment Company. He is a member of the Urban Land Institute and participates in its Urban Plan educational program at the local high school and college levels. He served as president of the Greater Charlotte Apartment Association in 2004.
Ken Szymanski - AANC Executive Director

Ken Szymanski has served as Executive Director for both the Greater Charlotte Apartment Association and the Apartment Association of North Carolina since 1986. He is the chief staff person responsible for directing the activities of the Association to serve the legislative, educational, and informational needs of the members. Ken represents and promotes the rental housing industry before the media, legislative bodies, other trade associations, and the membership. He is a Registered Lobbyist in the North Carolina General Assembly and has served on several committees of the North Carolina Building Code Council. He has twice been named “Association Executive of the Year” by the National Apartment Association, and served as President of the NAA’s AE Council in 1997.
Previously, he was the Education/Public Affairs Director with the San Antonio Apartment Association. Ken’s background also includes working as a city planner with a specialization in housing/community development in San Antonio, TX and Toledo, OH. He holds a B.A. degree in Urban Geography from the State University of New York at Albany (where he was a legislative aide in the New York State Senate) and a Master’s degree in City & Regional Planning from Western Kentucky University. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners, the Urban Land Institute, and the Board of Directors of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Coalition for Housing. Ken is also a recent graduate of Leadership North Carolina.
Colleen Kochanek - AANC Lobbyist

Colleen Kochanek has represented the Apartment Association of North Carolina for over 8 years and is actively involved in a variety of housing issues. She is the founding partner in Kochanek Law Group, which focuses on Legislative representation and Lobbying. She represents a variety of trade associations, non-profits and businesses at the legislature providing lobbying and consulting services not only in regards to legislation, but also with regulatory issues and administrative law. Colleen attended Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana and received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Psychology. She then attended Wake Forest University Law School in Winston-Salem, North Carolina where she received her law degree.
